Hello, I’m Kerollos Magdy AKA Kero. I was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1995.
I’m an Art Director with 8 years of experience, including an extensive post-production background.

From the start, my goal has been to make unique work. I want to combine the ability to create a great idea and execute it with very high quality as it comes out of the post-production studios. Following this principle, the upcoming events led to where I am now.

Here’s my story:

The beginning of the journey

I was drawn to create art when I was just 13 years old. I discovered Photoshop and began using its features to create designs. Following this, I designed my first official movie poster.

Discovering my passion

During my adolescence I really wanted to create official ads for big brands, but I didn’t know how to get to that level. So, I decided to make faux ads for global brands to reach well-known advertising agencies. Through these experiences, I discovered that my true passion and happiness comes when I can come up with a new ad idea. That’s when I get goosebumps and that’s how I still feel.

Designing for big names

After uploading these projects on Behance,
I started getting job offers from advertising agencies in Egypt.
I formally entered the industry as a graphic designer in April 2015 when I was 20 years old, starting my career at a BTL Advertising Agency. I worked there for global brands including P&G, Nike, Coca-Cola, and Nestlé, among others. This is when I started gaining true experience in the advertising field.

Executing the vision

In July 2016 Leap Studios hired me as
a Visual Artist.
It was an opportunity to learn and grow as I mastered my craft and fine-tuned
the execution of my ideas. And It was always my plan to return to working in advertising agencies again. There, I had the pleasure of working with prestigious multinational agencies from Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Egypt. These included BBDO, Leo Burnett, McCann, Ogilvy, Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWA, and Wunderman Thompson. With these agencies, I contributed to global brand campaigns such as Vodafone, Orange, STC, Mobily, Samsung, Coke, Pepsi, McDonald’s, Heinz, Toyota, Jeep, Dodge, and IKEA.

By 2018, I was named Art Director / Head of Retouching alongside another colleague. In this role, I took on additional responsibilities beyond being a Visual Artist. I was entrusted with the task of enhancing and expanding upon creative briefs received from agencies, and spearheading project planning and execution.

Act Responsible exhibition at Cannes Lions Festival

My faux ads began to get more help when I pulled in the capabilities of my friends at Leap Studios who worked in 3D to enhance the quality of the execution.
One of these ads, a UNICEF initiative, was nominated at Cannes Lions Festival’s Act Responsible exhibition. It was chosen as one of the best human rights campaigns of 2018/19. Unfortunately, we couldn't formally secure our submission since it wasn’t
an official UNICEF campaign. However, catching the eye of the judging committee as a Creative/Art Director at just 23 years old was an unforgettable experience.

To this day, the same feeling washes over me that I experienced as a naïve teenager when creating ideas and translating them into a concrete artistic vision: goosebumps ripple across my skin and I feel a deep satisfaction. I hope to feel the same in big official campaigns developed from my ideas.
I’m still working on fake ads as well as my main job to showcase and enhance my skills, and to help me get into one of the advertising agencies that I dream of working with.

I’m still hungry and striving to achieve my goals.
